Dear Friend,

For over 30 years, I have had the privilege of working for the people of Southeast Texas. I started as a teacher at a public high school and later became a county elected official. Now, I'm honored to serve you in the U.S. House of Representatives.

When I took office again in January 2007, our nation and our Congress were in desperate need of moving forward after a long era of tumultuous scandals and bitter partisanship. While there are still many challenges ahead, I'm proud to say that I've accomplished a lot simply by reaching across the aisle and supporting a bipartisan legislative agenda.

It's important to have a leader whom you can trust--a leader who will be a staunchly independent voice for families in TX-22.

The simple reality is that I am not a Washington "player", and I am not a bitter partisan. I have committed my life to serving my neighbors. I am a Blue Dog who fights hard for fiscal discipline, and I've authored legislation to extend middle class tax-relief for military personnel, teachers, and many other hard-working Americans. I stand my ground to improve ethics in Washington. I think your Representative should not have a pay raise until the budget is balanced. I'm a strong supporter of NASA, and I do not play partisan politics. And I'm proud to have a long list of accomplishments in a short period of time. Send me back to Congress, and I will continue to work hard every day for the people of District 22 and no one else.

We will succeed again in 2008. But like last time, it won't be easy. There are many people more interested in partisan politics than keeping good leadership for TX-22. I need your help to continue spreading my positive message at home and to keep up the good fight to bring positive change to Washington. Here are two things you can do today to help our campaign:
